Fraser Island Escapes

There is much to do while enjoying your Fraser Island, Queensland, escape. With its unique scenery, whale watching, water sports, and fishing you will have lots of fun.

Fraser island fishing enjoys a tailor run from July to October. You may fish from the 150 kilometres of beach for good catches of whiting, bream or flathead.

Take a bareboat charter from Fraser Island and explore the Great Sandy Strait. Everything is supplied for your fishing and exploration of this idyllic area, including an outboard motor dinghy, yabby pumps and crab pots. Don't forget your hat and sunscreen!

If you prefer not to sail yourself, then join one of the many cruises which take you to where the turtles, dugongs and dolphins swim. From July to November, whale watching is a must. The pods stop in at Hervey Bay for a rest during their long trek south, teaching their young in this safe area.

Hire a four wheel drive to discover the island at your leisure. Swim at Eighty Mile Beach, wander the shipwreck, Maheno, and swim in the perfectly clear freshwater lakes that litter the island.
